Praxlock Beta Agreement
This is the plain-language deal for the Praxlock beta. No legal costume. This is what the software does, what leaves your Mac, and what you can do about it.
What the coach watches
The coach sees window titles and app names ONLY. Never screenshots. Never page contents. Never keystrokes. That is the covenant and it does not have exceptions.
What leaves your Mac
Two things. One of them is not optional, and we say so rather than dressing it up as a choice:
1. The window title and app name of what you're looking at (not optional). They are sent to the model that judges whether you're on task, along with your declared task and your schedule context. That model is Anthropic's API, so those prompts transit Anthropic's servers under their commercial terms. This is not a setting: it is how the coach works. It is never stored anywhere we can read.
2. The weekly beta ping (optional, default off). Aggregate counters only: days active, sessions, streak. You see the exact plaintext payload before you decide, during setup. Off is allowed, forever.
While the coach is running it keeps a working file of your recent conversation inside its own folder on your Mac. It never leaves the machine, and it is wiped when the app closes and every morning.
One more, held by us rather than sent by you: we keep a list matching invite codes to tester emails so we can support you and revoke lost codes. It lives with the founder, not on a server.
What never leaves
Everything else. Your schedule file, your task list, your points and streaks, your study history: local files on your Mac. Your parents never see your behavioural data. Not a dashboard, not a report, not "just usage." You hold the only switch that shares anything, and leaving it off is allowed.
Quitting
Any time, no questions. Uninstalling wipes the app's local data. If you opted into the ping, our server rows for your install are deleted within 30 days of you asking, or automatically 90 days after they arrive, whichever comes first.
What we ask of you
Actually use it and tell us the truth about it, including "this is annoying" and "this broke." Don't share your invite code. It's yours; a leaked code gets revoked. And it's a coach, not a note generator. It will not do your work, and that's permanent.
The Founding Tester deal
You're one of the first 20. The beta is free and no payment information exists anywhere in this. If Praxlock ever costs money, you get 33% off for as long as you're subscribed.
Under 18?
A parent or guardian co-signs this agreement with you. That's them agreeing to the deal above, including this line, which we mean: the covenant means they never see your behavioural data either. What they get is the knowledge that the software respects you.
The honest close
This is beta software from a small team. It will have rough edges. When the coach tells you something isn't working, including "you need a tutor, not us," it's telling the truth. We never earn money from telling you to leave.
